Buh-bye

11 Jan

Hi darlings,

Just wanted to say that after a year and a half or so I’ve decided to discontinue the blog. It helped me a lot and was a lot of fun to do but lately it started to feel too much like a chore. I feel like I’m only just doing this blog for myself anymore but honestly I don’t feel the need to do this anymore as I’ve become a more outgoing person and have friends now who know me as Fe. So it just seems like a waste of time. I just hope you guys had as much fun reading it as I had writing it.
The blog will stay online though. It’s too hard to just throw all that work away and also I see no reason to.

Buh-bye huns,
Fe

Fashion and Style – Stylishly ever after

Well, it seems that each new week goes paired with another designer discovery. This week’s discovery is Ashleigh Verrier who’s latest collection I discovered on the Nylon blog (as usual). Her collection is very fairytale-esque without veering too much to the goth side of things. It’s not too dark or heavy but quite playful and romantic really. I don’t like all of the looks but here are the ones that I’d buy in a heartbeat (and they’re quite a lot) but you can check out the rest of the collection in all it’s animated GIF glory here.

2011 in review

1 Jan

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 17,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 6 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Fashion and Style – Red and white times two

28 Dec

I’m totally loving this two-tone Reed Krakoff dress. I love the deep and subtly draped neckline and the illusion of it being a two-piece outfit but with a twist. And if you look at the red part you’ll see that they used a sheer fabric for it. So pretty! By the way, the dress is modelled here by Sea of Shoes’ Jane Aldridge and she just happens to be one of my favourite fashion-bloggers. I love her quirky style and the fact that she’s not afraid to take risks style-wise. Oh, that and the fact that I just wish I could be her. C’mon, just look at her, she’s gorgeous. And to think that red hair and pale skin are considered flaws by some. Tsk, what do they know? Anyways check out the other shots at Sea of Shoes for a glance at all of the details.

Fashion and Style – No ordinary t-shirt

Don’t the cut and sheerness of these sleeves combined with the ethereal print make for a hauntingly beautiful t-shirt? I keep finding it amazing how beautiful things can look even if they are just monochromatic.

Tools of the trade – Max Factor False Lash Effect Fusion

5 Dec

20111205-144613.jpg

Feminisation, it’s just all about the eyes isn’t it? You can wear your nicest dress and most realistic looking wig but in the end it’s really the eye make-up that will give your appearance that ultimate feminine finish. Okay, you might not actually fool anyone all of a sudden but a speck of eyeliner and some black goo on your lashes can make you look more feminine in your baggiest guy-clothes than in your nicest dress with no eye make-up done at all. It really is one of the most important factors of feminisation. Now, a reasonable eyeliner is not that hard to find, the challenge really lies in finding that perfect mascara. It is a matter of personal preference of course but what I personally look for in a mascara is extra length and good separation of the lashes and I think I have found that in my now second favourite one; Max Factor’s ‘False Lash Effect Fusion’. While my other fav, Benefit’s ‘Bad Gal Lash’, is perfect for that subtle downplayed daytime look I seem to have found the perfect one for the more festive parts of life too in the ‘False Lash Effect Fusion’ as it really does make your eyes pop in a grand way that’s just perfect for any nighttime escapades. This mascara promises a few things one of which is the lengthening AND voluminizing effect. And while your lashes won’t actually end up looking as perfect like a pair of fake eyelashes they do end up looking pretty gorgeous. In fact, for me this mascara has the most gorgeous effect on my lashes I have yet seen. It looks simply stunning combined with a nice winged eyeliner around your eyes, really glamourmous. What I also find important about a mascara is it’s comfort of use. You don’t want to mess about too much when doing your make up right? So the last thing you probably want is to have mascara anywhere other than on your lashes. Max Factor promises that this will not happen with the ‘False Lash Effect Fusion’ because of a system that prevents any extra goo dangling from the brush. And it works, which also means you won’t have to worry about any clumps being stuck in your lashes. Best to check your brush though to be on the safe side because it’s not 100% foolproof but most of the time it does work. One little downside I have found is the thick brush which can be a bit clumsy at times especially when working at the corners of your lashes. Otherwise it’s a great albeit pricey mascara.

Beauty – False erm … lashes?

24 Nov

20111124-112947.jpg

Well, they’re not really lashes are they? They’re friggin’ birds! They do look really cool though and the detail on these is just amazing. I can’t really imagine anyone wearing these out though, they seem a bit too ‘out there’ for that. I can however imagine these being interesting for make-up artists working on fashion editorials or such. But anyway, they do look very gorgeous no matter their intended use.

I really adore All Saint’s range of dresses, they just seem to have the coolest selection of party dresses. I just love the elaborate draping-techniques they employ on their dresses as well as their interesting selection in fabrics. It really makes for some standout dresses. *sigh*. If only I could afford them. Damn you All Saints!
